Business Unit Director
Office based role - Berkshire
Reporting directly to the GM, UK Operations
Direct reports - the entire Neurology business unit (1 Product Mgr, Business Unit Secretary, Business Manager (North), Congress & Meetings Coordinator, 3 Senior Territory Managers & 6 Territory Managers.
Working along side 1 x Business Unit Director (BUD) for Uro-Oncology & 1 BUD for Endocrinology
To take responsibility for ensuring the development of the marketing strategy for all products in the Business Unit in the UK by:
Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the products, the competition, the specialty areas and the healthcare environment.
Facilitating market research to identify opportunities.
Recognising, evaluating and utilising opportunities to maximise revenue.
Contributing to the establishment and implementation of a three to five year strategic plan for UK Operations (including Marketing, Medical and Sales)
Leading and championing products throughout the company.
To lead the development of tactical marketing campaigns for any assigned products and monitor progress.
To direct the sales operation within the Business Unit to drive revenue and profitability in line with the strategic plan. To ensure the sales team is effectively managed, motivated and competent to communicate persuasively with the appropriate target audience, with the appropriate call frequency, as described in the marketing plan.
To take responsibility for UK product development and new business opportunities by:
Leading the assessment of potential opportunities, in conjuntion with the General Manager, UK Operations, evaluating commercial returns and making appropriate recommendation.
Effectively managing any product development to enhance marketing objectives.
To contribute to the international strategic development by:
Providing commercial support to international commercial teams.
Participating in international marketing committees as required.
Ensuring the needs of the UK business are considered and encompassed wherever appropriate.
Through effective leadership, to promote a performance, driven customer-focused environment by:
Creating, developing and leading an optimal Sales and Product Management team.
Recruiting staff with well defined roles and the appropriate skills and competencies.
Agreeing clear objectives and responsibilities.
Developing, motivating and retraining individuals and the team.
Encouraging efficiency and effectiveness, by implementing appropriate management processes and sharing of ideas and best practice.
