This position is responsible for leading the commercial growth of the Established Products Division of Abbott in the UK. A key member of the leadership team for the Company, this role will add significant value to the future growth of the business. This will include the following:

•Work closely with the GM and senior executive team to help drive the company forward through its next phase of growth
• P&L responsibility for Sales Force promoted products. Drive performance of the Sales Force promoted products holding responsibility for 60% of affiliate total sales and 76 individuals.
• Devise and implement a marketing strategy and provide strong leadership to the marketing function
• Maximise the use of conventional marketing tools, including significant above the line spend, in combination with new marketing techniques and technology-driven market methods
• Key player status in the senior leadership team of the affiliate, defining strategy and ensuring its application across the commercial function.
• Acting as the company commercial expert and customer interface for all high level sales and marketing issues, providing commercial strategy and direction to all internal and external stakeholders.
• Provision of strategic commercial direction to all functions to promote and support business development and growth, and new product launches
• Provision of leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of departmental operating goals and objectives with regards to budgets, metrics and profitability.
• Leading market awareness and brand strategy development across the business.
• Providing benefit-risk assessment of in-licensing compounds during due diligence.
• Developing a network of KOL’s to assist driving products through launch periods and support throughout the product life cycle.
• Install Brand Team approach by nurturing cross-functional teamwork (Medical, Regulatory, Scientific Affairs, Communications and Market Access).
• The management of the provision of training for the affiliate, most specifically Sales Force training.
• In conjunction with the Commercial Portfolio Group, plan and implement tactics to achieve set targets.

ROLE REPSONIBILITIES

Sales
• To prepare an Annual Sales Plan for EPD in the UK.
• In conjunction with the National Sales Managers and Regional Business Team, plan and implement tactics to achieve set targets.

Marketing
• In conjunction with the Marketing Team, prepare the Annual Brand Plans for the promotion of EPD products.
• This may include market research, sales promotion, product launches if applicable, advertising campaigns, exhibitions, public relations.

Relationship Management
• Build lasting relationships with customers, KOL’s and those people who will have an influence on the business.
• Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, including your peer group, senior and junior colleagues across the business.

People
In conjunction with HR colleagues:
• Recruit, retain and develop personnel to maximise the capabilities of the Sales and Marketing team.
• Ensure an appraisal process is in place which identifies on-going training needs and link to succession planning for key positions in the business.
• Demonstrate effectively operating within a matrix environment, with the ability to affect individuals both within and outside of the roles sphere of influence

Self Development
• Keep abreast of all factors which are likely to affect EPD business, including
• external competition / government initiatives and background operating environment, supply chain management
• Demonstrate the ability to think and plan strategically, creating new options and strategies for future growth of the business.
• Enhance and develop people management skills including coaching and mentoring skills.

Person Profil

Skills/Experience Requirements
A sound knowledge of managing P&L’s and making informed decisions is essential.
ABPI, PMCPA& Medicines Act knowledge
Strategic and operational planning must be advances including the ability to truly discern & critique strategies
Advanced forecasting and budgetary control capability
Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
Advanced presentation skills, the ability to inspire others
P&L skills including the ability to critique a P&L and make appropriate investment decisions
Due diligence process awareness
Contract knowledge including negotiation skills


Education Requirements A life science degree (or higher) , An MBA or CIM diploma would be advantageous.ABPI qualification is required
