Senior Account Executive / Account Manager


Main duties and responsibilities
Client work
" Develop good understanding of clients' business and markets, and issues affecting them
" Close client liaison and regular interaction at the appropriate levels
" Progressing agreed work and updating clients on progress
" Running client meetings
" Drafting and commissioning media materials and reports as required
" Briefing and commissioning third-party suppliers e.g. design and artwork, photography, print, research, venues and catering
" Negotiating and managing media promotions and events
" Formulating creative, costed client proposals to agreed strategies
" Seeking out opportunities for initiating ad hoc activities and additional project work
" Ensure evaluation reports are created and maintained to client requirements

" Carrying out desk research for existing clients and new business opportunities
" Researching and negotiating estimates for client projects
" Maintaining industry/sector intelligence relevant to current or potential clients
Media relations
" Maintaining and expanding relationships with relevant media
" Proactive management of media relations programmes
" Management of press briefings, photocalls and other events
New business
" Attend brainstorms/think tanks on new business and research ideas
" Formulation of creative, costed new business proposals to agreed strategies
" Ensure relevant account administration duties are carried out by junior staff
" Ensure accurate budgets are produced and that activity is carried out within client budgets at all times
" Manage junior team members and support administrative staff, identifying problems to discuss with Account Director/Gillian Waddell
" Deputise for immediate boss, when required
" Maintaining a clean desk policy
" Daily completion of accurate timesheets

" Out-going personality, good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with, manage and motivate people, particularly junior staff on account teams
" Initiative, a positive "can do" attitude and ability to identify and solve work-related problems

" Creativity and ability to generate ideas and solutions
" Motivation and ability to delegate effectively to junior staff, and command their respect
Professional skills required
" Competence with IT packages: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, E-mail and Internet
" Excellent organisational and time management skills
" Strong writing ability including presentations, features, proposals and speeches
" Strong negotiation skills
" Strong media relations skills
" Sound new business skills including proposal writing, presentations and marketing
" Familiarity with Fuel case studies and credentials
" Sound people management skills
