Medical Editor

This is a great opportunity for an experienced editor to ensure materials are produced to the highest standard, scientifically accurate, meet the agreed brief and are produced in accordance with agency procedures and relevant external guidelines.

Main duties
* Copy-edit and style a range of publication types (Word and PowerPoint) to ensure high quality and accuracy, in accordance with company procedures
* Thorough understanding and application of Good Publication Practice (GPP) and Healthcare Professional (HCP) Compliance Guidelines, and help advise colleagues and clients on guidelines
* Provide coaching to other members of the editing team and involvement in developing 'best practice' across M&SS function
* Co-ordinate and track manuscript and abstract submissions
* Work with Editorial Assistants to co-ordinate materials to print-ready stage, according to company procedures and agreed timelines
* Review studio proofs to ensure quality and accuracy
* Liaise with Medical Writers to agree client/author comments to be incorporated at production stage
* Compile weekly work/studio planners and flag resource issues in a timely manner
* Involvement in budget and schedule development
* Assist Account Managers in the management of project schedules to ensure projects are delivered according to client-agreed timelines
* Regular communication with both internal team and external contacts regarding project status and timelines
* Support the achievement of financial targets for accounts
* Contribute to organic growth of accounts and participate in account planning brainstorms

Person Profil

Candidate:

* Scientific/medical background - degree level or above in a biomedical discipline
* Previous copy-editing experience (healthcare communications agency/marketing/publishing)
* Proven experience and knowledge of editorial services/processes (eg journal submissions, copyright requirements, writing/using style guides) including GPP and other compliance guideline


* Excellent eye for detail
* Aptitude for critical review of copy
* Excellent organisational and project management skills, and ability to prioritise effectively
* Forecasting/resource planning skills
* Highly effective communication skills - both verbal and written
* Ability to work across multiple teams
* IT proficiency - MS Word and PowerPoint
* Budgetary awareness
